" Storm what storm?"
Everyone was safe after the hurricane, but the basement flooded. I told Grandma and Grandpa that the rug down there was a petri dish growing the next communicable disease and needed to be removed. They did not listen, but the wrath of Irene took care of that problem in the form of about 8 inches of water. The basement is getting a good cleaning, painting and new rubber flooring. Grandma and Grandpa are going to have quite the gym thanks to Irene. Daddy is having a fun time researching rubber flooring and planning his dream gym for when we ever settle down somewhere and buy a house. I do the same thing with kitchens.
We have been surviving with flashlights and hooking the fridge up to a generator our neighbor was kind enough to let us hook up to. Jake and I were staying with our good friends The Lyons, but it was time for Jake to start sleeping in his crib again. Mommy can only go with nights filled with lots of snuggles and zero sleep for so long.
"ENOUGH WITH THE NOISE"
Since the patio is completed and there is no electric inside, we have been enjoying nice dinners outside in the cool breeze. Jake likes to play on his blue mat while we eat.
Here is Jake playing with one of Uncle Jeff's trucks.
Trucks are both fun AND delicious !
New Patio
Fingers crossed Lola does want to take up gardening at Grandma's and Grandpa's house.
Sitting on his blue mat. Jake Loves his blue mat and will cry and reach for it when he wants to scoot around and play with his toys.
Playing with some toys
7 Months
Jake with Mr Peanut showing their Pinstripe Pride. Grandpa was given a chair from Yankee Stadium for his retirement. You can hear the roar of the crowd every time you sit in it.
Getting a picture of Jake and Mr Peanut was a little difficult this month as Jake is really getting very stable with independent sitting and is confident enough to look around and reach for things.
The Hat. This was the least blurry of the pictures that I took. The hat no longer stays on his head very well and bobbles every time Jake moves. He kept looking around wondering what was going on with his head.
Hanging out on his exercise mat. Jake is now strong enough to reach up to the toys and pull the whole arch down. The days on this toy are numbered, but Jake really likes to look at the baby in the mirror.
Jake is quite the babbler. Grandma took Jake for a walk the other day so that I could take a nap. When they came in to wake me up Jake looked at me and said "MOM" - as in time to get up. Jake is good about going back to sleep in his crib when he wakes up to eat in the middle of the night. Around 5 am he wakes up again to eat and wants to snuggle with Mommy. When ever he wakes up for the day - he opens his big globes, hits me in the arm repeatedly and says "MOM" until I wake up. Jake also loves to read books. He will sit by himself on his mat and flip through the pages of his board books and look at all the pictures. When he is bored with the pictures he will hit me in the leg, push the book towards me and say "MOM". Jake can also say "bye" and "Emo" when Elmo is in front of him. He will not acknowledge Elmo if he is not singing. This video is a little grainy because the lighting was a little dim, and because as soon as I put some hand lotion on he started chatting away and obviously as soon as i grabbed my phone my lotioned thumb went right onto the camera lens.
