HELLO LOLA

We have made it through the first week home with Jake. He met Lola and they instantly became best friends. Lola loves Jake. Lola stays up at night with Daddy to take care of Jake so I can get a little bit of sleep and does and Sniff Check every hour to make sure her buddy is ok. When Jake is in the pack n play in our room she sits on the bed so she can see over the rails and watch him. Lola came upstairs with me to feed Jake one feeding and fell asleep at the foot of the bed. She was not awake when Daddy took Jake downstairs and she woke up in a panic looking for her friend. When she heard him sucking his pacifier she ran downstairs and sat next to him the rest of the night. The two of them love to go for walks together and Lola sits next to Jake when ever another dog walks by and does a sniff check on Jake whenever a person walks by his stroller. She is a good big sister.

Jake eats. And Eats. And Eats. Then he poops. Then he eats some more. He had a follow up with the Dr on saturday and in less than a week after being born he was already back to his birth weight. He is getting big and filling out. He has another Dr apt this week where he will get weighed. He is getting so big it will be interesting to see how much weight he has put on. His once noodle-y arms now have little fat creases on them and his cheeks are getting chubby. Even since we took these pictures at the start of the week he has grown a ton. He makes new faces every day. He has a stretching routine for when he wakes up to warm himself up for another feeding. He sleeps- just not at night or anytime consistently. He is staying awake longer and longer and loves to look around and is very shocked to see everything. He's a keeper.

" Did we just become best friends? " - " Yup" - "wanna go do karate in the garage? " -" Yup"

Best friends

This is how we spend the early morning hours

Jake knows how to hold his own pacifier so it wont fall out. He is very dexterous.

SPECIAL DELIVERY

Say hello to our little boy Jacob Christopher. He made quite an entrance a month early debuting at 5 lbs 11 oz and 18 inches long. He is a tiny little peanut. I had to stay in the hospital for almost a week for some extra medical madness and Jake wooed all the nurses with his eating skills and boy-ish charms. His favorite thing to do is make faces in his sleep. He does not like clothing and every changing has been turned into a tag team sport. He is strong and he can wiggle. Before he was born we always would wonder what body part was poking out of the belly. The answer - Jake's massive feet. They are almost the same size as his legs and he kicks them with a fury :)

We are so happy to be home with the little guy and are going this afternoon to pick up his future partner in crime Lola from daycare. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly.

This week was also Lola's Adoption Day Anniversary, which she celebrated with her furry friends at daycare. I was very sad to have missed celebrating with her, but hopefully she enjoys her new friend enough to forgive us. Thank you Lola for teaching me patients, love, and the value of bribing small creatures with big cookies. Thank you for making me a Mommy.

HI MOM !!!!

First photo of the three of us. I can not wait until Lola is there for one of the complete family.

Jake in the NICU until I was well enough for him to join me in my room

Jake already out grew the tiny sized bottles before we made it home. He loves to eat.

Jake got all dressed up and swaddled so he would be ready for his going home pictures
