5 Months.. almost

Jake is almost 5 months old. Its been a busy month. We took his monthly pictures a little early because Mr Peanut is a wanted man and had to go on a cross country tour.

Mr Peanut riding in style on his cross country tour.

5 months. The pictures is a little tipsy, but it was the only one I could get with Jake's legs straight.

I am not sure if the hat pictures are going to be able to continue through out the year. Its getting to be quite the snug fit.

The Law kicking into action

Mr Peanut. Jake is starting to be curious of different textures and likes to pet the blanket.

Arm in Arm with Mr Peanut.

Among the many last minute things that have been going on around here lately, Jake got christened

He was almost as confused as the priest who kept saying - " this little girl what is his name"

No Grandma, that is not a map of Alabama on his shirt.

Over that past few weeks Jake has gotten to be lots of fun. He is very playful and giggly, but still stays put on the floor. Jake rolled from his back to his belly and tried to crawl away from me when we were doing his exercises. he cant crawl yet but keeps turning like a clock on his belly. He likes to confuse me as every time I look over at him a different body part is facing me.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ?!?!?!?!

Jake has really started to LOVE LOVE LOVE Lola. He finds her hysterical. Every time she barks or starts her sprints, Jake starts to giggle louder than he giggles for anything else. I see lots of trouble coming from this pair.

I have 2 hands that must be used at all times to pet and rub bellies. My spot is monkey in the middle.

We need to work on our sharing skills...

Everyone Loves Humphrey the Giraffe

He is delicious

"My bone."

Lola is so soft. Jake likes to pet her and grab her whiskers and lips. Lola can sit still for a few seconds and then can not resist the temptation to lick his face non stop.

The winters out here are more miserable than I will ever be able to describe. It looks that same at 3 am as 3 pm as high noon. Gray and rainy. The summers out here almost make up for it with clear blue skies, a slight cooling breeze off the sound, no humidity and GREEN GREEN GREEN everywhere. We have been enjoying a lot of time outside.

Jake wants to look as good as Daddy in a hat.

We had Juan come and do some yard work to clear out some weeds and dead bushes/ bushes that Lola has eaten to a stump. Juan is part ninja and just appears in the yard. Lola is not to impressed with his stealth skills, but thoroughly enjoyed her new spot in the shade.

Lola was very happy it was sunny and Jake got to play outside with her. She was so excited that her little buddy was out in the yard that she ran to the front gate, then barked, ran to the back gate, then barked, then ran to the other front gate and barked, then ran back and licked Jake in the face. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat....

Jake trying to crawl. He is getting so close

Apparently Lola HATES the flashlight. Jake finds this hysterical.

Globe Trotting

Jake did some traveling this past week. He was so excited about meeting lots of new people on the east coast that he slept the entire flight across the country. Even though Jake is not a Native New Yorker, he has always been on an east coast time schedule. This is not always the best since we live on the west coast, but it made our time traveling a bit easier. While Jake is a super -snuggler, during our travels we found out that he also likes to nap naked, in the breeze, taking up an entire couch. Jake is a man who knows what he likes and will settle for nothing less than the best.

While we were off visiting Lola stayed at doggie daycare. While I do not do too well while Lola is away and spend the day worrying about how she is doing, Lola spends the day eating frostie paws hanging out by the pool with her puppy friends. When we went to pick her up today, she was running around outside with her favorite friend, Fin. She was very happy to see us, and the first thing she did when she got in the car was check on her buddy Jake. Lola however, was not too happy when she got home and realized that the only thing left of the bone she dug up from the yard and buried in the couch was a large muddy stain.

Jake also missed his furry friend while we were away. Jake has lots of toys, but he LOVES his Puppy. Puppy looks just like Lola. He has lots of spots and ears that are darker than his body. Puppy hangs out with Jake when he is in his swing, stroller or car seat. Jake gave Puppy lots of extra snuggles on this trip.

As a rule, Jake hates any kind of restraints. We have to delicately time when we put him into his car seat or stroller so that we are about to run out the door once the screaming starts. However, he got pretty darn excited when we told him we were going to pick up Lola from school.

This is Jake when we were headed home from the hospital for Jake's first car ride. I love the look of pure annoyance.

This is a picture is taken on Jake's second airplane ride. I was going to take a picture of his first flight, but forgot that my phone has a camera.

This is Lola's first ride in the car when we took her home.

This is Lola coming home from doggie daycare. She likes to sit in the back and sniff out the window and check in to make sure Jake is ok.

While we were away we took Jake for his first swim. There are a lot of great pictures on our big camera, but since I forgot to download them and left the camera in NJ, they wont be posted for quite some time. Here are a few from camera phones.

As you can see he was thrilled for the new adventure.

It was great to finally introduce Jake to everyone back east, but being home is also fun.

Jake LOVES to stand and is getting really great at his exersaucer.

"Get the camera, we're going to go assault the dog!"

* after we took these pictures we informed Jake that dog riding is not good for Lola's hips. He promptly retired from the sport.

Lola was so happy to see Daddy when we came to pick her up from daycare she almost jumped the fence to get to him. After she got home, she was less enthusiastic.

Here is a video of Jake playing with the bird. While it may look that he is easily frustrated with the toys, he was laughing and playing with them for a hot minute before I realized I never pressed record.
