THE GIP

Since my brothers and I were little The Gip made the epic mistake of telling us that as long as we got good grades and stayed in school he would pay for our tuition. Five and a half degrees and more than a combined 18 years of college and graduate school later, The Gip is finally hanging up his calculator and becoming a man of leisure. Congratulations Gip !!!!! We can not wait to get home and celebrate with you as you wear dungarees every day of the week. Your second career of Lola Wrangler will always be waiting for you. Jake has been growing full force to help you handle the beast.

Week 6 in pictures

Well Hello

Other than Jake eating and growing, not much has been going on around here. Jake has been rocking tummy time and can now roll over and push up all the way onto his hands. He can hold hands and knees and scoot on his chest. He is working on scooting on his hands and knees but isn't quite there yet. Yesterday was the first sunny day we had in a LONG time so we all went to the dog park so Lola could play with some puppy friends.

Jake was very upset that he was all dressed up and not able to go to the Waller's St. Patrick's Day party

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET A DRINK AROUND HERE ?!?!?!?!?!?!?

DUCK SEASON IS OVER!!! Jake is getting too big for his newborn outfits. Lola agrees.

Loungin

Technically these pictures are from today and Jake turned 7 weeks today

pacifiers are also Lola's favorite toy, so the little guy has to move fast

Yes, it was a very long night, as you can see by the state of the couch

Wild West

Since Jake is getting bigger we decided it was time for him to start sleeping in his own room in his crib with a super comfy mattress instead of in his car seat. He never actually slept in his pack N play so we decided to just give up on that step. We have a great video monitor and can actually look in on him through the monitor easier than trying to peak under the canopy of his car seat. Jake doesn't really seem to notice the difference and it has been nice to slowly be able to move some of his stuff off our bedroom floor and back into his room. We tag team the night feedings and Lola helps by keeping our spot in bed nice and warm.

We really love the house that we are renting. It is a great house in a great neighborhood that is safe for me to walk Jake and Lola during the day or even alone after it gets dark. Our house also backs up to some hiking trails where Lola loves to go for her walks. Apparently having a house that backs up to hiking trails also means that you share your yard with deer, turkeys, and packs of wild coyotes. This past weekend we were awoken when the house was surrounded by a pack of wild coyotes that were not only audible through the windows, but magnified through the baby monitor. It was like we were in the movie Signs. Lola did not approve and ran straight to Jake's room to make sure her little buddy was alright. She was then on super alert the rest of the night barking and growling at every noise the house made. Jake slept through everything. He knows his girl is looking out for him. We will not be walking alone at night again anytime soon.

In other not surprising news, Jake is huge. Jake had a goopy eye and had to go to the dr for some ungooping medicine. Everyone was quite impressed with his eating skills and how much weight he has gained. he is now 8 lbs 6 oz. In the 2 weeks since he as at his last dr apt he has put on a pound. Babies aver age a pound a month. Good job little hungry man :) All that growing means that he no longer fits into most of this newborn outfits. This makes me incredibly sad as I really loved some of his little outfits and hate to have to put them away.

Jake sending out kisses. I couldn't decide which picture I liked the best

You can't really see it, but Jake had to one up Charlie Sheen with his tiger t-shirt.

Due Date

This past sunday was Jake's due date. He has been pretty busy eating in the past month. We celebrated by taking him out to brunch at the Space Needle. He was super excited about his crayons and coloring sheet.

Jake can be bit of a messy eater, and since his belly button is all healed he has been able to enjoy quite a few warm relaxing baths. He has his own personal tub that fits inside the big tub. The luxurious tub also includes a jet for a bubble bath and a mini shower. Jake likes to get hosed down so long as we remember to aim the first little bit of cold hose water elsewhere.

Lola and Jake got to go on a few more walks together, but the rainy weather has limited when we can venture out. Lola loves Jake, but Lola REALLY loves Grandma and Grandpa who came out to see her and give her lots of snuggles and a fake t-bone steak to chew on. Lola is still a little out of sorts with all the craziness going on in the house, but between long walks and trips to doggie daycare she is doing ok. She has a new friend at daycare who is an australian shepherd named Finn. They play together all day then settle down together for a nice mid afternoon nap. Daycare has tried to get pictures of the two monsters for their website, but all the pictures are too blurry to make out the little trouble makers.

Best Seat in the house

I wanted to take a picture of Jake every month against something so you could really see how much he has grown. The quilt is one of the quilts my Grandma made Jake. Because Jake is such a peanut, our good family friend Mrs Lyons sent Jake a new friend Mr Peanut to share the torture of being posed and blinded by flashing lights on a monthly basis.

Great Grandma's quilt and the little animal
