6 Months

In addition to the madness of The Invasion, the downstairs renovation and the backyard over haul has started. Four adults plus one beast of a dog plus the old dog with no legs she tries to eat, plus one infant minus a kitchen, hallway, back yard and living room is a recipe for Put -A -Tent- Over- This -Circus. Jake and I have been staying up in my room, Lola has been staying at daycare. As soon as we say "Lola are you ready for Doggie Daycare? " She runs out the door and jumps into the car to go play with her friends and jump in the pool. I would jump in the back of the car for that deal too. I tired to take Jake's 6 month pictures yesterday, but when I turned on the big camera it was flashing BATERY EXHAUSTED. I know the feeling.

Bar Baby. This is the first time in the 15 years my parents have lived in that house in which I can remember the bar sink ever being used.

Renovation Day 1: No more bathroom in the living room. Finally.

Renovation Day 2

No more Bar Baby. Grandma demonstrating where the new bathroom will be.

Contrary to the lighting in this picture, Jake and I do not spend the day in a dungeon while the construction is underway. By the time this renovation is over Jake will be able to play all of Mozart's piano concertos.

Its not work and learning all day long. After Jake is done eating his flash cards he spends some time in his exersaucer while I straighten up the room. Here he is intently watching Elmo. Jake screams when the camera switches from Elmo to anything else and does not stop screaming till Elmo comes back on screen.

When it is hot out we overt throw pools. Jake LOVES the water. The only time he does not like being held is when he is in the pool. He much prefers floating in his starfish under the canopy, or being twirled in the pool while making motor boat noises.

"Less pictures, more spinning my floatie around the pool."

Jake and Grandpa have lots of fun together. Some of their games include eating feet and watching the faces Jake makes when Grandpa makes him smell provolone cheese.

Getting a good shot is serious business

Big Boy Jake

Mr Peanut is sooo much fun.

Lounging in Grandpa's chair.

"Can we go to doggie daycare now ?"

I got Jake a mesh teether to put frozen fruit in to feel good on his teeth. This is pretty much how long it lasted before it was thrown on the floor.

Settling In

Its been hot out here and Jake, Lola and I have been settling into things back east. Jake decided sleeping is for losers. Mommy begs to differ. In order to fill up his little belly and try to get him to sleep a little longer, Jake has been eating lots of solid foods. He started off with fruits mixed with oatmeal, which he loves, but it is proving a little harder to get veggies into him. He loves peaches and blueberries, especially mixed together. A tablespoon feeding is a good feeding at his age. He eats about a 1/4 cup and then still wants milk. He's a hungry little fellow. His 6 month apt is right around the corner, so we will see how big the not so little guy is getting.

"Jake you are supposed to share"

Jake loves his exersaucer. He is getting so big and can really spin around and play with all the toys, which thankfully keeps him busier longer.

This is how much bigger he has gotten the past month in his exersaucer

Mesh shorts, no shirt, someone is obviously taking fashion tips from Daddy.

This is how Jake rolls.

Just when I thought I had the bed to myself. Jake absolutely will NOT nap in his crib.

Getting ready to cheer Jeter on for his 3000th hit with Grandpa. Grandpa was supposed to be at the game the night before to cheer Jeter on, but the game was rained out. I think he got a better seat. Jake wanted to go to the game too, but everyone was afraid if Jeter found out that mommy is off the market, he would hang up his spikes and succumb to pure sorrow.

Jake knows the seriousness of Yankee Baseball.

Jake got so excited about the big hit he couldn't even sit still.

WHAT A HIT !!!! Jake told Grandpa he wanted to watch the at bat from his jumperoo so that he could do a celebratory bouncy bounce.

The Invasion

Jake, Lola, Roxie, Mr. Peanut and I all made it to the east coast, slightly worse for wear, but all here in one piece. Jake and I got here last weekend in time for Jake to celebrate with his aunt and uncles. Unfortunately the weather did not hold out and he was not able to show off his bod in his swim suit, but we all had a great time.

Lola spent some extra time saying all her good byes to her pack at doggie daycare. She took a daycare car service to the airport. What a diva. Lola is not a huge fan of flying, or walking on tile, so lots of grandpa help was needed to get her home. Lola also had a date with Ms. Manners. We are working on making her know she is not the boss. She is not allowed to sit on chairs, eat Lucas, or jump. We have lots of lessons to work on and are going to slowly start trying to get the two beasts to be able to share the house. Lucas has some very good sharing skills and really could care less about anything that is not edible. Lola is a different story. It is a slow process. Monday the electric fence teacher is coming for Lola lessons. In the meantime we are going on lots and lots and lots of walks.

Last night Lola and I went for a walk with grandma. We went down a back road near the house so that Lola would not be scared by all the car headlights. It was very dark. I saw something moving in the distance and told Grandma to wait a second because there were deer crossing the street. Lola wanted to play with the deer, but sat and waited like a good girl. Then the deer started running in circles. Then the deer charged us. I screamed out "Its coming after us" and looked back to see Grandma halfway down the block running in the opposite direction. I started screaming to get the deer to run away. It still charged after us. After realizing she left us as deer bait, Grandma came hopping and flailing her arms back down the road yelling " EHHH EHHH THATS WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO SAY TO THEM EHHH EHH". Lola was not moving anywhere. I kept screaming. Then I heard a small asian voice yelling " NO NO NO NONO HE GOT AWAYYYYYYYY" Turns out the run away deer was a run away labradoodle. After changing our route, Lola almost got hit in the face with a frog trying to jump across the road. This is why Grandma and I are not allowed to go anywhere together. And I wonder why Lola has issues.

Jake has been fussy. He is teething more and more each day and not really sleeping well and wanting to be held by mommy and mommy alone all day and all night. Hopefully one breaks through soon.

Happy Birthday America

Jake was not too sure about his new highchair

But he decided that he likes it.

Jake is learning his alphabet.

Traveling takes a lot out of a girl.

What a hot mess. This is what teething will do to you.
